Forum discusses measures to enhance Vietnam – Japan economic cooperation

A forum themed ‘Vietnam – Japan Policy Research Forum: Deepening bilateral cooperation after ten years of Vietnam – Japan Economic Partnership Agreement’ was held in Hanoi on November 15.

The event offered an opportunity for the two sides to discuss issues related to their trade and investment cooperation, as well as their efforts in strengthening the bilateral relations in order to maximise the benefits from regional and international integration in the new context.

Speaking at the forum, Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), Nguyen Dinh Cung, said that Vietnam and Japan should take joint actions in accordance with the new context around the globe and throughout the region.

According to Head of CIEM's Macroeconomic Policy, Nguyen Anh Duong, Japan is listed among the top two investors in Vietnam, focusing on the processing and manufacturing industries, agriculture and services.

At the forum, delegates focused on important contents: the current status and issues in Vietnam-Japan trade relations since 2008; Vietnam - Japan economic partnership agreement in terms of economy and politics; efforts to boost investment cooperation between the two countries since 2008; initiatives and measures to enhance the two sides’ trade and investment relations.
