Labour exports reach record of over 140,000 in 2018

The number of Vietnamese workers abroad reached over 140,000 in 2018, up 7% over the previous year, according to the Department of Overseas Labour Management under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

This is the fifth consecutive year in which labour exports have exceeded 100,000 people.

Notably, Japan surpassed Taiwan (China) to become the largest recipient of Vietnamese workers for the first time with more than 67,000 people.

Taiwan (China) received around 65,000 workers, followed by the Republic of Korea (over 6,000) and Saudi Arabia and Romania.

The number of workers in Japan and Taiwan (China) accounted for over 90% of total guest workers abroad.

The largest recipients of Vietnamese workers continue to becountries in Northeast Asia.
