Vietnam’s tourism revenue up nearly VND110 trillion in 2018

Vietnam’s tourism revenue is estimated at VND620 trillion (US$26.5 billion) in 2018, an increase of nearly VND110 trillion against the previous year.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the country welcomed about 15.6 million international visitors and 80 million domestic tourists this year, an increase of 2.7 million and 6.8 million visitors respectively over 2017.

Ho Chi Minh City led the country once again with 36.5 million visitors, including 7.5 million international visitors and 29 million domestic tourists. Hanoi welcomed about 28 million visitors, including 5.5 million international tourists.

Notably, the northern province of Quang Ninh emerged as an attractive new destination this year. It attracted 12.5 million visitors, including 5.3 million international visitors, surpassing the central city of Da Nang with 7.7 million tourists, including nearly three million international visitors.

With a constantly growing number of tourists, Vietnam’s tourism industry expects to serve a total of 103 million visitors in 2019.
