Czech Republic exports to Vietnam rise 33% in 2018

Exports from the Czech Republic to Vietnam reached over US$140.7 million in 2018, an increase of 32.7% compared to 2017, according to the latest statistics released by the Czech Statistical Office.

The two-way trade revenue between the two countries was posted at nearly US$1.17 billion in 2018, up 12.9% compared to 2017.

The main products exported from the Czech Republicto Vietnam include sound and image recording equipment and TV screens with a total value of over US$64.7 million. They are followed by kiln equipment, boilers, and mechanical tools with a total value of more than US$23.3 million.

Other export products include optical, movie and surgery equipment, glass and crystal products, plastic products, military equipment, seedlings, pharmaceuticals, medicinal herbs, and industrial plants with a total value of US$2-8 million.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s major goods exported to the Czech Republic are audiovisual equipment with a turnover of over US$365.5 million and footwear and similar products worth US$229.8 million.

The exports of rubber, inorganic chemical compounds, leather, garment accessories, apparel, mechanical equipment, motor vehicles, and wooden furniture also reported a total value between US$30-90 million.

However, the bilateral trade turnover has yet to match the economic potential and actual demand of the markets of two countries.

The regular exchanges between delegations of two countries at all levels to study the market and seek business opportunities will create a momentum to promote investment for both sides in the areas of civil and high technology, particularly the biotechnology and nano areas which are the strength of the Czech Republic.
