Vietnam's largest furniture fair opens in HCM City

The 12th Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA-EXPO), the largest of its kind in Vietnam, opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on March 6.

VIFA-EXPO is the largest annual fair of the Vietnam's furniture industry, which gathers all types of furniture, handicrafts and interior decoration products in addition to support services that meet the demand of customers from all over the world, said Chairman of the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA), Nguyen Quoc Khanh.

Khanh noted that this year the Organising Board has expanded the display areas for participating enterprises to 35,000m2, up 23% compared to 2018. As many as 514 enterprises are showcasing their products at 2,420 pavilions.

Enterprises have come from many countries and territories worldwide, with huge potential and strength in the wood and support industries, including Singapore, the US, Canada, China, France, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Indonesia, Taiwan (China), and others.

This year's fair, one of the leading furniture fairs in ASEAN, is expected to promote Vietnam's export revenue of wood products, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Do Thang Hai.

Vietnam reported total export revenue of wood and forestry products of US$9.3 billion in 2018, up 16.81% compared to 2017, making wood and forestry products the largest export group of the Vietnam's agricultural sector.

The fair will run until March 9.
