Vietnam’s garment exports hit nearly US$8.7 billion

Garment exports brought in nearly US$8.7% in the past three months, up 11.31% over the same period last year, the state-owned garment group Vinatex reported.

The US was largest importer of Vietnamese garments at US$3.4 billion, followed by the EU and Japan, which imported US$1.4 billion and US$964 million, respectively.

Garment exports to the Republic of Korea and China were US$874 million and US$936 million, respectively.

In the January-March period, Vinatex’s export revenues reached US$594 million.

The group posted total revenues of an estimated VND10.6 trillion (US$455.8 million) and pre-tax profits of VND280 billion (US$12 million), equivalent to 16.2% of the full-year target and up 24.4% over the same period in 2018.
