180 delegates to attend ASEM Conference in Nha Trang in late May

The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Conference on "Promoting Economic and Social Inclusion in Asia and Europe” will take place in Nha Trang city from May 16 to 17, gathering 180 delegates from 53 partner countries as well as those from regional and international organisations.

This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) at a press conference held in Nha Trang city on May 15.

The conference will be co-hosted by the MOFA, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee.

According to Le Thi Hong Van, Deputy Head of the MOFA’s Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation, sustainable development and inclusive growth have become a priority of countries, particularly in the context of increasing global challenges and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Therefore, the event is designed to provide a platform for the ASEM partners to exchange policies and best practices to achieve inclusive outcomes and effectively implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at global, regional and local levels.

It will also highlight the connectivity between Asia and Europe in tackling global issues related to economic and social inclusion and enhance ASEM's effectiveness, relevance and in-depthness in the third decade of development.

As for Vietnam, the conference illustrates the country’s practical contributions to realising the global effort and facilitating ASEM cooperation, while providing an opportunity to strengthen ties between Vietnam and ASEM partner countries.
