China’s Shandong firms seek cooperation opportunities in Vietnam

A seminar was held in Hanoi on May 27 to promote the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Vietnamese enterprises and firms in China’s Shandong province.

The event was co-organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the International Trade Promotion Committee of Shandong Province.

Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairman of Shandong provincial People’s Council Wang Liang said that, Vietnam has become the most important and largest partner of the province.

Shandong has imported mainly crude oil and electronics from Vietnam, while exporting mainly refrigeration, electronics, textiles, equipment and machines, he added.

Wang Liang also noted that the province would give more support for the cooperation between Vietnamese and Shandong firms, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, education, healthcare and bidding for construction.

The VCCI’s Vice Chairman Hoang Quang Phong said that the event offered an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to learn more about cooperation opportunities with firms in Shandong province.

Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, Hu Suojin, emphasised that the Embassy would continue to coordinate with VCCI and relevant agencies to create favourable condition to promote cooperation between the two countries, particularly between Vietnamese and Shandong enterprises.

After the seminar, enterprises from Vietnam and Shandong province held meetings to learn each other towards cooperation.

The total trade turnover between Vietnam and China reached nearly US$104.6 billion in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 11.75%.
