International expo on fabric and garments kicks off

An international expo on fabric, garments and accessories, named ‘Denimsandjeans in Vietnam’, kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City, on June 12.

With the theme being “My earth my denim”, the expo features the participation of more than 40 exhibiting companies from all around the world.

According to Sandeep Agarwal, representative of the organising board, the event is considered as an effort to ensure and protect the environment in the industry supply chain. This year's exhibition selected a theme focused on sustainable development, he added.

Exhibitors will bring the latest machines, equipment, technology and products which have achieved sustainable development criteria.

In addition, the exhibition is expected to open up opportunities to connect supply chains in regards to denim in the Vietnam market and affirm the position of denim fabrics within the export industry.

Principally, the exhibition is one of the annual activities that contribute to promoting Vietnam's textile and garment industry to improve energy using and pollutant discharge; as well as prioritizing enterprises to develop sustainable models.

Within the exhibition, which takes place from now until the end of June 13, besides displaying products, there will be some seminars will be held on sustainable development in the textile and garment industry in general and on denim in particular.
