It is the most important component of VinFast’s 335-hectare electric bike and car production complex of which construction began less than two years ago.
The plant was originally set to open in September but has been completed ahead of schedule and has opened after only 21 months of construction, setting a record in the automotive industry.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly praised VinFast’s efforts to put the facility into operation at a remarkable speed, calling it a “miracle” of Vietnam’s and the world’s automotive industry.
He noted that VinFast’s achievement attests to the Party Central Committee’s resolution which considers the private sector as a driver of the Vietnamese economy.
PM Phuc also took the occasion to affirm that the Vietnamese government always supports capable and aspiring investors.
The government leader said he expects VinFast to produce quality products and promptly deliver them to customers while urging the company to collaborate with other car manufacturers to strengthen Vietnam’s automotive industry as a whole.

Covering 500,000 square metres, the plant is designed to produce 250,000 cars a year in the initial stage before its capacity is upgraded to 500,000 units a year in the second phase.
VinFast is the first car facility in Vietnam to possess a highly automated production line, in which the stamping, welding, painting, assembly and engine workshops are continuously connected and automated by thousands of robots.
It is also the only car plant in Vietnam capable of manufacturing the main components of a car.
VinFast’s Fadil crossover model will begin to ship from June 17 while its Lux A2.0 sedan and Lux SA2.0 SUV models are scheduled to hit the market in late July.
The company plans to unveil 12 automobile and electric bike models over the next two years.
VinFast is a subsidiary of Vingroup, one of the largest private conglomerates in Vietnam with its businesses ranging from property development and retail to healthcare, education, technology and industrials.
