The plant has a total capacity of 42.65MWp and an investment of VND986.2 billion (US$42.40 million).

It covers an area of 49.2ha in the west of Vinh Tan 2 thermal power plant in Tuy Phong district.

The plant is connected to the 110kV Tuy Phong – Ninh Phuoc grid through 22/110kV transformer station. It is scheduled to provide approximately 68.4 million kWh of electricity to the national grid per year.

Chairman of EVN’s Member Council Duong Quang Thanh said that the national grid had only four solar power plants with a total capacity of nearly 150MW by mid-April 2019 and now the number of solar power plants has sharply increased to 79 with a total capacity of 4,312MW.

Additional 10-12 solar power projects are scheduled to be connected to the national grid by June 30 this year, Thanh noted.

He added that the operation of the solar power plant is of great importance to the region and the nation amid the shortage of coal for thermal power plants, the decline of gas sources and the exhaustion of hydroelectric power plants.
