LaoVietBank honoured with Lao Labour Order, first class

The Lao Viet Joint Venture Bank (LaoVietBank) held a ceremony in Vientiane on June 22 to receive Lao Labour Order, first class, and commemorate its 20th anniversary (June 22, 1999 – 2019).

The event was attended by Politburo member and Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) of Laos Pany Yathotou, among others.

The Vietnamese side included Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, along with ministers and delegates.

LaoVietBank is a joint venture between the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL).

Speaking at the ceremony, Somdee Duangdee, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Laos, said that LaoVietBank was established on the basis of the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

It has become a bridge connecting the two sides’ economy as well as a symbol of the special friendship between the two nations, he added.

The Lao Deputy PM appreciated the efforts, contributions and outstanding achievements that LaoVietBank has gained over the past 20 years.

He affirmed that the bank is truly the leading payment bridge between Vietnam and Laos as providing a variety of multi-purposed and useful financial services for businesses and people from the two countries, worthy of the trust of the two parties, two governments and the two countries people.

General Director of LaoVietBank Nguyen Van Binh extended his sincere thanks to leaders of the Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos as well as ministries and agencies from the two countries for their close guidance and support.

He noted that the bank would continue to uphold its position as a payment role to remove difficulties in bilateral payment activities for businesses from the two countries.

On the occasion, in addition to the Labour Order, first class, four second-class Labour Orders, five third-class Labour Orders and five Friendship Orders were presented to individuals from the LaoVietBank.

The State Bank of Vietnam also awarded the emulation flag to LaoVietBank as the leading unit in the emulation movement in 2018; and the BIDV also presented the emulation flag to the bank.
