Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange launches covered warrants

The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) held a ceremony on June 28 to launch the trading of covered warrants.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Finance Minister Huynh Quang Hai praised the efforts of HOSE and relevant units in creating the product and formulating the legal frameworks as well as making preparations for market participants and investors.

He asked the concerned parties to continue working closely to ensure the market operates in a stable manner and protect the interests of investors.

Chairman of the State Securities Commission Tran Van Dung said he expected that covered warrants would be embraced by domestic and foreign investors, thereby attracting capital and increasing the market liquidity.

Le Hai Tra, a HOSE official stated that the launch of covered warrants is an important milestone in the history of HOSE and the Vietnamese stock market in general.

He added that a covered warrant is the fruit of not only HOSE but also market participants while expressing his belief that the new product will be welcomed by investors.
