The initiative was proposed by Vietnam with the aim to implement important results of the APEC Year 2017 on the development of human resources in the digital age and the promotion of the digital economy.

The attendees came from APEC member economies and international and regional organisations such as ASEAN, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), along with ministries, enterprises and training facilities in Vietnam.

Dr. R.Maria, the Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, appreciated the organisation of the workshop for significantly contributing to implementing APEC’s priorities on the development of high-quality human resources and inclusive development of economy, finance and digital society.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasised that this is a time in which APEC needs to uphold its leading role in enhancing creative, inclusive and sustainable growth to bring Asia-Pacific into a global centre on new technology.

During the two working days, the delegates are exchanging and proposing specific recommendations that will be submitted to APEC Senior Officials Meeting in Chile in late August.
