The train from Yen Vien Station departs at 7:35 and the train from Song Than Station departs at 6:15.

There will be five trains a week in each direction on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

During its journey, the trains will stop at Gia Lam and Kim Lien Stations to load and unload goods.

VNR said each train comprises of 20 carriages carrying 20 containers, with the total weight of goods loaded in each container not exceeding 17 tonnes.

According to Vu Anh Minh, a VNR official, the launch of the rapid freight train service reflects the company’s efforts to meet the goods transport demand.

He said that the goods on these freight trains are mainly postal packages, express delivery goods and high-value goods that requires careful preservation, noting that VNR’s major customers such as VNPost and Viettel have already filled the trains.

The VNR official added that the rapid freight service is also part of an effort to regain the share of rail freight transport, which is extremely modest at present.
