Improving operation of Hanoi Promotion Agency

Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA), Nguyen Gia Phuong, said that since its establishment in June 2015, HPA quickly stabilised its apparatus to focus on investment, trade and tourism promotion activities.

Phuong made the statement at the working session with Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai in Hanoi on August 1.

The HPA director noted that after four years, promotion activities of the agency have been enhanced in terms of scale, quality and professionalism. The agency has built annual promotion projects for Hanoi in connection with other related departments and sectors at all levels.

In particular, Hanoi's promotion activities have become more diverse, connecting different areas, including investment, trade, tourism, agriculture, and others, in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs for the budget.

Thanks to effective promotion activities, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Hanoi has increased from US$3.11 billion in 2016 to US$7.5 billion in 2018. The city also attracted US$5.3 billion in the first half of 2019.

Total export revenue of Hanoi also went up from US$10.6 billion in 2016 to US$14.2 billion in 2018. The city welcomed 21.8 million visitors in 2016 and 26.3 million visitors in 2018.

Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai lauded the HPA for its effective operation in the past years, contributing to enhancing the quality of Hanoi’s promotion activities.

He also asked the agency to improve the quality of its staff and connect more closely with relevant agencies to boost the efficiency of promotion activities in the future.
