Hung Yen longan week kicked off in Hanoi

The Hung Yen Longan and Agricultural Products Week 2019 opened at Big C Thang Long in Hanoi on August 9, in a bid to boost the consumption of Hung Yen specialty fruit and farm produce.

The event is part of trade promotion activities held by the authorities of Hung Yen province in coordination with Big C Thang Long – a member of Central Group Vietnam. This is the third year the event has been held in Hanoi to bring the specialty fruit, longan, to Hanoi consumers.

Hung Yen longan are being showcased at 10 pavilions managed by local cooperatives and farmers from Khoai Chau, Kim Dong, An Thi and Tien Lu districts and Hung Yen City.

Cooperatives brought to Big C longan products packed and labeled with full information of geographical indications, bar codes of origin traceability, VietGap certification and others to help consumers recognise authentic Hung Yen longan.

Deputy General Director of Central Group Vietnam Nguyen Thi Phuong said that the event aims to support Vietnamese agricultural products and respond to the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritise Vietnamese goods” towards improving the living standards of the people and raising the value of Vietnamese farm produce.

During the longan week, longan will be sold at VND53,900 per kg, a discount of 15%, at Big C and GO! supermarket chains.

Hung Yen longan have been ranked 13th out of 50 well-known fruits in Vietnam and were recognised as the best fruit by the Vietnam Book of Records.
