Trade forum promotes Vietnam – US bilateral trade and investment

The 2019 Vietnam – US Trade Forum, themed ‘Global Supply Chains Movement – Opportunities to Promote Bilateral Trade and Investment’, took place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6.

The event was co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and America Chamber of Commerce(Amcham) in Vietnam.

The delegates provided information on the latest policies of the US as well as analysed the opportunities and challenges facingVietnam in the context of world trade conflicts and global supply chains movement.

In addition, the forum focused on the Vietnamese Government’s action plan on prevention of origin frauds and illegal transshipment, strategies to attract new generation foreign directinvestment, and measures to attract global supply chains movement flow.

Measures and orientations to help enterprises gradually position and develop their methodical and effective business strategieswere also discussed at the event.

The forum contributed to motivating businesses from Vietnam and the US in developing strategies of market access and expansion of import and export markets, contributing to promoting the bilateral trade and investment between the two countries in a balanced and sustainable manner.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai noted that in recent years, the US has been always a leading economic and trade partner of Vietnam.

The US was also among top ten major foreign direct investors of Vietnam, with a total accumulated registered capital of US$9.3 billion in 2018, he added.
