The HCMC Party Committee convened on October 2 to discuss measures to boost growth and realise other socio-economic targets in the final quarter of the year.
Speaking at the conference, HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan said the city has overcome numerous challenges in the past nine months to achieve growth of 7.81%.
The city’s exports brought in more than US$31 billion, up 10.5% while its tax revenues reached VND287.173 trillion (US$12.35 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.23%, reported HCMC Vice Chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen.
He added that the city attracted US$5.43 billion of foreign investment during the January-September period, up 3.48% year on year while total retail sale and service revenues also went up 11.9%.
Ho Chi Minh City also welcomed more than 6.2 million of foreign visitors, up 14.3% year on year.
As part of the city’s Party Committee meeting, the delegates also discussed preparations for the upcoming Party congresses at all levels and the implementation of a number of programmes such as the smart city project.
