SV-STARTUP will stimulate entrepreneurship: Deputy PM

The ultimate goal of the national startup festival for students (SV-STARTUP 2019) is to stimulate and foster entrepreneurship in schools, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasised at the opening ceremony of the event in Hanoi on October 5.

Vietnam is implementing reforms in the education and training sector, especially the teaching and studying methods, the official said, stressing the need to trigger the creativity of both teachers and learners in the current science-technology era.

Therefore, the main purpose of SV-STARTUP is not the establishment of many startups but rather to equip students with knowledge to help them be prepared to start a business in the future, he stated.

Deputy PM Dam added that the festival also aims to connect schools, research institutes and businesses through a number of tools.

SV-STARTUP 2019 is being hosted at the Hanoi University of Technology on October 4-5, featuring a wide range of activities, including showcasing startup products and ideas, with around 80 projects selected from the nearly 300 submissions by students of universities, colleges and high schools across the country.

A highlight of the festival is the final round of the SV-STARTUP 2019 competition, which gathers the 68 best projects of the entries from over 200 universities, colleges and high schools nationwide.
