Such a national brand is expected to help boost foreign trade and enhance national competitiveness.

In the next ten years, the programme seeks to have 1,000 products awarded with the national brand recognition, whose export growth will be faster than the national average.

It also aims to raise the number of local firms included in renowned brand rankings by 10% each year and to reach 90% of Vietnamese enterprises having awareness of the role of brands in their business activities.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is tasked with managing the programme and working with other relevant parties to carry out the projects belonging to the programme.

The programme will protect the national brand logo and recognition system both at home and abroad, help local enterprises to develop the products that meet national brand criteria, and support them to build, develop and protect their brands.

The Vietnamese national brand will be awarded to qualified enterprises every two years and the recognised enterprises will be allowed to use the national brand logo and recognition system.
