The event aimed to discuss issues related to the production and storage of existing renewable energy and infrastructure; local and national grids; and support from the European Union for sustainable power development in Vietnam.

Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Paul Jansen said that the seminar was an opportunity for domestic and international experts to meet and exchange, finding measures for renewable energy development in Vietnam and enhance investment cooperation in this field between enterprises from the two countries in the near future.

According to Do Duc Quan, Deputy Director of Electricity and Renewable Energy Department, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, “in order to encourage the development and use of renewable energy sources, the Ministry has advised the Prime Minister to issue policies to promote the development of wind power, biomass power, generation from solid waste and solar power.”

However, the development of renewable energy in Vietnam has entered it’s first stage of gaining experience from other countries that have gained successes in renewable energy development, including Belgian.

On that basis, the country will perfect the system of policies as well as set programmes and strategies for the stable and sustainable renewable energy, ensuring the demand of power for the nation in line with global energy development trends.
