The event attracted the participation of hundreds of experts and scholars from institutes and research agencies as well as business leaders.

According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Correspondent in Singapore, experts talked over Vietnam’s recent political and economic situation, international economic integration amid trade tensions, and legal reforms since 2016 and their impacts on the business environment.

Delegates also exchanged views on issues regarding thebanking and finance sector, infrastructure, energy and real estate.

Addressing the forum, ISEAS Director Choi Shing Kwoksaid that Vietnam is seeing many opportunities in the context of global trade tensions. When businesses seek to diversify or withdraw from China, they will look to Vietnam, which has a dynamic and fast-growing economy with more than 90 million people including a population of 70% under 35 years old, he noted.

The ISEAS Director told the VNA correspondent that as a fast-growing economy, Vietnam has made positivecontributions to the region and ASEAN. “As one of theleading countries in ASEAN, I see that Vietnam has a strong strategic vision that ASEAN needs at this time to have a direction in such an unpredictable context in terms of geopolitics,” he added.

He also said that Vietnam is a responsible member country in the United Nations and expected that Vietnam will continue to promote the role of ASEAN to be a responsible member of the international community.
