The experts shared the viewpoint at a conference on the cooperation in agricultural business between the Netherlands and Vietnam held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 14.

Speaking at the event, Mirjam Boekestijn, Secretary of the Dutch-Vietnam Agricultural Business Cooperation Association, said that agricultural production is an important economy in the two countries and both two sides have great potential to strengthen the cooperation in this field.

The similarity of the Dutch and Vietnamese agriculture sectors is the potential for the development of vegetables, flowers and fruits. Therefore, the cooperation with leading agricultural businesses from the Netherlands will offer good opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to learn and approach to advanced techniques, especially in important stages such as the research and study of variety, harvesting, storage and processing.

Representatives from enterprises shared that the two biggest barriers in hi-tech agricultural production in Vietnam are land concentration and the investment capital for initial infrastructure.

Accordingly, in order to accelerate the development of hi-tech agriculture, the State should create favourable conditions for enterprises to accumulate land or encourage farmers to join production links as well as easily access to financial resources.
