The event was held by the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA), in collaboration with relevant agencies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said: “After five years of successful implementation, the 2019 Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair has been renovated and improved, becoming a prestigious trade promotion event that attracted the response and participation of numerous provinces and cities nationwide as well as both domestic and international consumers and visitors”.

The event has been considered as a bridge for trade between agricultural and food producers and businesses in the country and importers, distribution systems, supermarkets and consumers.

The fair offered an opportunity for enterprises and localities to promote their specialties to consumers and visitors as well as to participate in an efficient supply-consumption chain in Hanoi and in exports. Meanwhile, distributors can seek and choose the source of goods for them. Over the past years, the fair has been welcomed the capital city’s consumers, enterprises and tourists at the end of the year.

Specialties from Hau Giang province are introduced at the fair.

This year’s fair featured around 200 pavilions by 63 provinces and cities, along with booths by several foreign embassies, including Laos, Indonesia and Hungary, introducing a variety of specialties as well as cultural and tourism products.

The decorated pavilions showed the characteristics of different regions around the country. A wide range of practical activities are being held on the sidelines of the fair, aiming to promote the tourism and traditional cultural features of localities from across Vietnam as well as enhancing the supply-consumption connection and giving consultancy on the products’ development.

This is the fifth edition of the fair in Vietnam, attracting great attention of people as well as appreciated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and provinces and cities. The trade promotion event has contributed to promote typical specialties of localities around the country to Hanoi market and for exports.

The fair has attracted 53 provinces and cities by 2018, including those with large-scale pavilions such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh, Dong Nai, Quang Binh, Quang Ninh and Hue. In addition, over 90 enterprises expressed their wish to join the next fairs.

The displayed products met standards related to origin, food hygiene and safety. The organising board encouraged businesses to develop and introduce their creative new products with beautiful packing.

The event attracts a large number of visitors.

The HPA’s Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Mai Anh said that the fair also recorded the growth of sale turnover and supply and consumption contracts, from around VND15 billion in retail turnover in 2015 to VND70 billion in 2018. Besides, nearly 300 contracts and cooperation agreements were signed.

The Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair has become a reliable address for the capital’s consumers and visitors to visit and purchase at the end of the year as well as for distributors and wholesale markets to seek the supplies of goods. The number of customers to the fair has also constantly raised over the years.

The organisers hoped that the fair has become an expected destination for many consumers, enterprises and domestic and international tourists to visit, purchase and trade.
