Deputy PM vows to boost Vietnam’s growth model

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has affirmed that the Government of Vietnam is committed to continue strongly renewing its growth model and creating favourable conditions for investors to succeed in Vietnam.

The senior government official was speaking at the opening of the 2019 Horasis Asia Meeting in the southern province of Binh Duong on November 25. The two-day event is held by the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee in collaboration with the Horasis Global Visions Community, Becamex IDC Corporation, VSIP Group and other partners.

More than 1,000 senior leaders from economic groups of over 60 countries and territories around the world, as well as representatives of central ministries, agencies, localities and leading enterprises in Vietnam, gathered at the event, held in Binh Duong for the second time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy PM Hue said that Horasis 2019, with the participation of many leading politicians, speakers and entrepreneurs from around the world, is not only a great opportunity to promote the image of a dynamically developing Binh Duong and Vietnam, but also a special occasion to promote investment in Binh Duong and the southern key economic region in particular, as well as in Vietnam in general.

He said that over the past 30 years, Vietnam has been one of the most successful countries in attracting and using FDI capital. Up to now, there have been 30,136 projects in the country, with total registered capital of US$360 billion.

In order to achieve quick and sustainable development, the Government of Vietnam is committed to continue vigorously renewing the growth model towards sustainability, while constantly innovating and improving the investment and business environment, as well as improving productivity, efficiency and national competitiveness, Hue stated.

“On behalf of the Government and the Prime Minister, I urge you, businesspeople and international investors, to come to Binh Duong and Vietnam. The Vietnamese Government is committed to creating all favourable conditions for your success in Vietnam and we always consider your success to be our own success,” Deputy PM Hue emphasised.

Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Liem said that the forum is a special international event for Binh Duong, opening up important opportunities for the province and businesses attending the event to enhance the development of an open multilateral trading system, connecting businesses, sharing experience on building smart cities and discussing future vision orientations to promote trade liberalisation, investment and economic cooperation.

The event features four plenary sessions and 35 parallel discussions on topics related to regional and international economic issues and new trends in technology development presented by the top speakers of the world. In which, they focus on Asia and opportunities, challenges and visions for organisations in the 4th industrial Revolution and the smart city trend.

This year's forum is also a key event in the series of activities under the "Smart City Binh Duong 2019" programme, which features the 15th International Asian Urbanisation Conference and the launch of some works associated with information, science and technology in Binh Duong, such as announcing the operation of the Binh Duong hotline system - 1022, and inaugurating a community-based initiatives centre and a centre for supporting innovative startup in the province.

After the opening ceremony, Deputy PM Hue attended the signing ceremony for BLOCK71 project between Becamex IDC Corporation and National University of Singapore to support start-up and innovation between business communities of both sides.
