The enterprises were selected based on the corporate sustainability index (CSI) introduced by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) that includes 98 criteria across three categories of economy, society and the environment.

By providing information in accordance with the CSI criteria, enterprises can systematise information on corporate management so as to improve and promote their sustainable development strategies.

VCCI Vice President Vo Tan Thanh said many enterprises wish to grow in a sustainable manner but do not know where or how to start, and the CSI is the answer to their questions.

In 2019 the organisers saw the participation of more than 500 businesses from various sectors, regardless of size and form of ownership.

According to the jury panel, the quality of this year’s applications is higher with more and more Vietnamese enterprises paying more attention to the environmental issues.

Also at the event, the VBCSD honoured nine journalistic works on the topic of sustainable development enterprises.
