Addressing the launch, MoIT Minister Tran Tuan Anh stressed that over its six editions in Vietnam, Online Friday has received enthusiastic appreciation and participation of Vietnamese customers and businesses.

He noted with pleasure that the event’s total order value robustly increased to VND2 trillion in 2018 from VND180 billion in 2014, when it was held for the first time.

It has attracted the participation of more than 3,000 businesses with up to 27,000 products on sale. Last year’s event received roughly 1.8 million orders and 25 million online social interactions.

As e-commerce and online shopping becomes more popular in Vietnam, the events are expected to increase the business community’s interaction with consumers and reduce costs while enhancing the shopping experiences for customers.

The Online Friday event 2019 features various on-sale products ranging from essential items for New Year festival, household appliances, and cosmetics to fashion items, technology products and airline tickets.

The event also sees the participation of e-payment solution companies such as ViettelPay, VnPay, ZaloPay, who provide support payment and cash-back activities for consumers when using electronic payment wallets.

Online Friday 2019 and Digital and E-Commerce Experience Week are taking place simultaneously in three big cities, at the pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, Bach Dang night market in Da Nang, and Nguyen Hue walking street in Ho Chi Minh City.
