The PM emphasised that railway safety and security is a very important issue as it relates to the lives and properties of the people.

The railway sector also has specific characteristics and is governed by many laws including the Law on State Budget, the Law on Management and Use of Public Property, and the Railway Law. In addition, the national railway system has a complicated system of level crossings and unauthorised level crossings, the PM said.

He asked the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministries and sectors to put forth solutions to urgently remove inadequacies related to the management and maintenance expenditure of the national railway system without affecting the lives of railway workers.
