Work starts on VND1.7 trillion industrial zone in Soc Trang

The southern province of Soc Trang held a ground-breaking ceremony on February 4 to commence construction of the Xay Da B industrial zone with the investment of garment manufacturer Dintsun Vietnam.

The zone covers 54 hectares in Ho Dac Kien Commune, Chau Thanh District, and will be built at an estimated cost of VND1.7 trillion (US$73.2 million).

Xay Da B will be dedicated to the weaving, dying and garment industries.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Soc Trang Vice Chairman Lam Hoang Nghiep pledged to support the investor during the implementation of the project.

He also asked Dintsun Vietnam to concentrate its resources to complete the project on schedule, fully comply with regulations, ensure labour safety, and pay special attention to environmental protection.

Dintsun Vietnam Deputy General Director Jas Mime Lau stated that construction of the zone will follow the design and its factory will meet international standards.

The company is expected to employ 2,500 workers starting from March 2021.

Soc Trang Province plans to build 19 industrial zones with a total area of 794 hectares, of which nine have already been established, covering 410 hectares.
