Binh Duong’s exports reach US$5.8 billion

Despite the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the southern province of Binh Duong earned over US$5.8 billion from outbound shipments in the first quarter of the year, up 3.6% over the same period of 2019, according to the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Liem.

The province's industrial production index is estimated to have increased 6.14% year on year. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first quarter was estimated at VND62.1 trillion (over US$2.6 billion), up 11.7% over the same period last year.

He attributed the results to the efforts of local firms in expanding their market and improving product quality, along with the province’s support to businesses’ operations.

The local authorities have also helped businesses enhance the competitiveness of their products and build trademarks, while at the same time, encouraging local enterprises to apply high technology in production and assisting them in access to capital and human resources.

Also in the first quarter, besides the urgent task of promoting effective epidemic prevention, with the participation of the whole political system, Binh Duong province has been implementing solutions to overcome difficulties and stabilise life, as well as taking full advantage of all available sources to ensure the progress of socio-economic development and the maintenance of stable growth.
