Hue offered the praise while visiting the Hanoi-based company on April 7.

According to Garco10 General Director Than Duc Viet, the company’s orders fell by 30% in April and are expected to plummet by 60% in May and June.

In this context, the company shifted to producing cloth face masks to meet demand both domestically and for export, with 5 million items produced in the past month, generating revenue of VND35 billion (nearly US$1.5 million).

Garco10 has also begun producing medical face masks and received a US$52 million order to produce 400 million items to be delivered in July. Such an order accounts for 30% of the company’s projected revenue for 2020.

In addition, some partners have ordered 20 million cloth masks for delivery in the next six weeks while another partner has received two million cloth masks and ordered an additional six million medical masks.

Viet stated that the company is also planning to produce protective suits.

Speaking during the visit, the Hanoi Party chief stated that combating the epidemic remains the top priority in ensuring the safety of employees.

He asked the firm to closely follow the Prime Minister’s social distancing guidelines while requesting trade bodies to work with government agencies to create safety standards for factories to operate normally in accordance with epidemic control measures.

The Hanoi leader also expected the company to prepare the necessary conditions to resume their usual production as soon as the epidemic is over.
