Domestic gold prices exceed VND49 million per tael

Gold prices in the Vietnamese market soared to over VND49 million (approximately US$ 2.117) per tael on May 18, in line with the global upward trend.

In Ho Chi Minh City, a tael of SJC gold was priced at VND48.74 million for buying and VND49.22 million for selling, up about VND500,000 from closing on Friday last week.

Prices of the precious metal in Hanoi also increased by VND600,000 to trade at VND48.74 and VND49.24 for buying and selling, respectively.

At the same time, global gold prices have witnessed a strong rise to around US$1,764 per ounce.

Given the exchange rates listed at Vietcombank, the gold price in the world market is equivalent to VND49.8 million per tael, without including the relevant taxes and fees.
