The event, jointly held by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and Central Retail’s Big C supermarket, is the first of its kind held in Hanoi in 2020 with the aim of promoting domestic consumption of agricultural products.

Across 60 booths, dozens of typical fruits and agricultural products from 17 provinces and cities are being displayed at the fair including Hai Duong lychee, Son La mangoes, Ninh Thuan grapes, and aquatic products from Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh provinces, among others.

Deputy General Director of Central Retail Group Nguyen Thi Phuong said that the trade fair is expected to create a stable distribution channel for participating cooperatives and enterprises.

Appropriate products will be selected to be sold at the supermarket systems of Big C and GO!, Phuong noted.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that during the week-long trade fair, the department will assist enterprises and cooperatives in promoting their brands and products to foreign markets through the retail chains of Central Retail, Aeon and Lotte while boosting the consumption of local agricultural products in Hanoi and vice versa.

Several agreements were signed at the event under which Central Retail committed to consume hundreds of tonnes of lychee and other farm produce in the 2020 season.

The fair will conclude on June 3.
