This is the second online conference held within a month by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and the Guangxi Commerce Department, as part of a trade promotion agreement between the two agencies and ten northern Vietnamese provinces and cities signed last June.

The conference aims to promote cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities so as to restore economic and trade activities between the two sides.

According to Vietrade Director Vu Ba Phu, the production and trading of construction materials and home décor products of both Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises are highly dependent on the property market.

The property market has been sluggish since last year, landing manufacturers of construction and decoration materials in difficulty, while exports have been even slower amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Therefore, Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in this sector need to strengthen their cooperation so that they can tap into the common markets of Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa when the pandemic is over.

Speaking at the conference, head of the Guangxi Commerce Department Jiang Liansheng said he expects to see more orders by stepping up the cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi while Vietrade Director Vu Ba Phu stated that Vietrade is always ready to facilitate the two countries’ enterprises to cooperate in an effective and long-term manner.
