Hai Duong exports first batch of “thieu” lychee to Japan

About 1.2 tonnes of fresh “thieu” lychee grown in Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Ha district, in the northern province of Hai Duong was harvested on June 23 in order to be shipped to Japan.

This is the first time Hai Duong lychee has been exported to Japan after the export of Bac Giang lychee to the country several days ago.

Following the harvesting, lychee is to be sent to Ameii Vietnam JSC for packaging and preliminary processing and then shipped to Japan by air on June 24.

Besides its established markets, Hai Duong lychee has been allowed to enter the two new and fastidious markets of Japan and Singapore in 2020.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ameii Vietnam JSC Nguyen Khac Tien said that Japan is a high potential market for Vietnamese lychee as the Japanese people like this fruit. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the first two tonne batch of of Bac Giang lychee exported to Japan on June 20 sold out within one day.

Earlier, Ameii Vietnam shipped 60 tonnes of lychee to Singapore, 50% of which was Hai Duong lychee.

Hai Duong has approximately 10,000ha of lychee with an estimated volume of 40,000 tonnes this season.
