Specifically, 48 prizes in different categories were presented to the featured firms operating across various areas, including real estate (Hung Thinh Land, Him Lam, etc.), retail (Saigon Co.op, Big C, etc.), hotels & resorts (Vinpearl, Vien Dong, etc.), and tourism (Saigontourist, TST tourist, etc.).

To attain the honour, all businesses must ensure certain criteria, such as financial capacity, brand development policies and sustainable business activities, amongst others.

Speaking at the event, Editor-in-chief of Saigon Giai Phong newspaper Nguyen Tan Phong said that originally an award for the tourism sector and supporting travel companies to build trademarks, the “Most popular Vietnamese brands” programme has now been expanded to a wide range of industries and areas, receiving a positive response from enterprises and consumers.

The award is expected to be a practical encouragement for Vietnamese firms to develop and improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, he added.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem highly lauded the significance of the award, stating that the 30 companies honoured this year have contributed remarkably to the city’s efforts to stabilise the market and introduce Vietnamese products to both domestic and foreign consumers.

The leaders of HCM City always see businesses as an important and indispensable component in promoting local economic development, he said, noting that the city is exerting unceasing efforts to reform administrative procedures and create a transparent investment climate, towards becoming an innovative city of action and a key economic locomotive in the country.
