This is the first time a well-known agricultural product of Bac Kan province has been eligible to ship to the European market.

The batch of 5.3 tonnes of canna vermicelli worth nearly US$15,000 will be transported from the Hai Phong seaport to the port of Hamburg in Germany and then shipped to the Czech Republic by road.

Nguyen Thi Hoan, director of Tai Hoan Cooperative, said that the product has passed the most stringent standard checks and has been certified as eligible for export to Europe.

The cooperative has a capacity of 1-2 tonnes of canna vermicelli per day, fully meeting the export demand of orders in the near future, Hoan noted.

Canna vermicelli is one of the main agricultural products in Bac Kan province with a number of brands including Nhat Thien canna vermicelli, Trieu Thi Ta canna vermicelli, Tai Hoan canna vermicelli, and others. The province has approximately 1,000ha of canna with an estimated output of canna vermicelli of over 1,000 tonnes per year.
