The event, which was jointly held by the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City and the Prime Minister’ economic advisory group, featured nearly 50 speeches providing insight into digital economy along with suggested solutions for Vietnam to catch up or take advantage of the digital economy.

Participants agreed that the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) has brought about both opportunities and challenges in developing the country’s economy and that the development of information technology and communications can help to narrow the gap between Vietnam and developed countries.

They also discussed the vision, development orientations and solutions to promote innovation, as well as macro policies to encourage digital transformation in economic sectors, industries and localities in Vietnam.

They then proposed solutions to foster effective connection, close coordination and sustainable cooperation among research and training facilities, scientists and business communities in order to build a startup ecosystem, new business models and products that can facilitate the digital transformation process in economic sectors, industries and localities.
