During his meeting with Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, Duong expressed his desire to promote cooperation between Jalisco’s businesses and Vietnamese companies to facilitate trade and investment ties between the Mexican state and localities of Vietnam in particular and the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in general.

For his part, Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez affirmed his readiness to strengthen the friendly relations and economic cooperation with Vietnamese localities, emphasising the bilateral cooperation potential in strategic sectors such as manufacturing, information technology, footwear, wood and garments/textiles.

The two sides agreed that Vietnamese and Mexican businesses should take advantage of the opportunities brought about by free trade agreements, especially the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

While staying in Jalisco, Ambassador Nguyen Hoai Duong attended the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Guadalajara City, the first of its kind in Mexico and Latin America. Duong hailed the event as a contribution to bolstering friendly relations and enhancing economic, tourism and cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Mexico.

Meanwhile, Honorary Consul Miguel Ángel Landeros committed to strongly promoting bilateral cooperation across all fields. Landeros, who is the current president of COMCE de Occidente, stated that he would soon organise a business delegation to survey the Vietnamese market.

During his trip, the Vietnamese ambassador attended an online seminar themed “Vietnam-Mexico business opportunities” together with local enterprises, and laid flowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s statue at the International Friendship Centre in Guadalajara.
