Export turnover of various agricultural products surpasses billions of US dollars

Vietnam posted total export revenue from agricultural products at over US$37.42 billion in the first 11 months of 2020, up 2.4% over the same period last year, with various products recording export revenue of over US$1 billion each.

Despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of agricultural products posted higher export revenue compared to the corresponding period last year, including rice, vegetables, cassava, shrimp, wood and wood products, cinnamon and rattan products.

About eight groups of products posted export revenue of over US$1 billion each in the January-November period, including seven groups of products with export revenue of over US$2 billion each such as coffee, rice, cashew nuts, fruit and vegetables, shrimp and wood products.

In the 11-month period, rice, one of Vietnam’s main agricultural export products, reported export revenue of over US$2.8 billion, up 10.4% while shrimp posted an export revenue of nearly US$3.4 billion, up 9.7%, and wood and wood products recorded export revenue of approximately US$10.9 billion, up 14.1%, among others.

During the period, the US remained the largest importer of Vietnamese agricultural products with an export revenue of approximately US$9.8 billion, up 22.3% over the same period last year and accounting for 26.2% of the Vietnam’s agricultural export revenue.

China came in second with export revenue of US$9.2 billion, accounting for 24.6% of the market share.
