Sharing experiences from Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2020

Many businesses operating in the food and agricultural processing industry gathered at the headquarters of the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA), 10 Trinh Hoai Duc street in Hanoi to share and exchange their experiences after participating in the Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2020 – a fair to promote agricultural trade and ‘One Commune, One Product’ (OCOP) products.

The OCOP programme aims to facilitate economic development in rural areas with a focus on bolstering existing resources and increasing the value of typical rural products.

The fair is held annually in Hanoi and its previous edition took place in December. This year, for the first time, the fair was staged at two AEON trading centres in Hanoi, including AEON Long Bien and AEON Ha Dong.

The AEON Mall Long Bien hosted the Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2019, which gained a total revenue of more than VND6 billion. The four-day event also provided a venue for participating enterprises to seek distributors and business partners.

Following the success of 2019, the scale of Hanoi Agriculture 2020 expanded and was held across two AEON Mall venues in Long Bien and Ha Dong, with the aim of helping participating businesses get closer access to the AEON Group’s modern distribution system in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the event took place at AEON Long Bien mall from November 5 to 9, and from November 19-23 at AEON Ha Dong mall, featuring nearly 100 booths.

Various activities were held on the sidelines of the fair, including a workshop on the “Introduction of EVFTA – Export advantages of Vietnamese agricultural products, Organic agriculture – The trend of approaching modern distribution systems”, a painting exhibition “Let’s bring home the safe vegetables”, product showcases, and food sampling events.

According to HPA Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, the fair was a venue for Vietnamese firms to advertise their products to domestic customers and learn more about the requirements of AEON’s distribution system, thus opening up opportunities for export.

The event was also designed to enhance firms’ capacity and product quality and develop strategies for their products.

AEON’s strict requirements have encouraged participating businesses to pay more attention to product quality, labelling, packaging as well as the arrangement of their booths and sales staff appearance and behaviour.
