Specifically, last year the province's industrial production increased by 3.7% in the first quarter, while suffering a sharp decline in the second and third quarters. However, from September 2020, the province's industrial sector has developed new products for export. In addition, supporting industries have witnessed positive development, helping the index of industrial production increase sharply, reaching 22.4% in the fourth quarter.

For the whole year, the industrial production value in Bac Ninh reached over VND1.1 quadrillion, up 2.9% compared to 2019, ranking first in the country; of which, the processing and manufacturing sector continued to play a leading role with a 3% increase, with electricity production and distribution up 8.2%.

Bac Ninh is also ranked second in the country in terms of export turnover, at nearly US$39 billion, up 14.3% compared to 2019, while it is ranked sixth in attracting foreign investment capital in 1,628 projects with total registered capital valued at US$19.9 billion at the end of 2020.

The Red River Delta province also ranked eighth in the country in terms of gross regional domestic product (GRDP), estimated at VND122.7 trillion, up 1.36% compared to 2019, while its State budget revenue reached over VND30.2 trillion.

In 2021, as the COVID-1 pandemic is forecast to progress in a complicated manner, Bac Ninh will continue to direct local businesses and people to strengthen their prevention and fight against the epidemic.

Local authorities will also continue to increase coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support local enterprises in searching for new markets and stable partners to boost their production and increase overall industrial production value.
