Work commences on US$100 million smart electronics factory in Nghe An

A groundbreaking ceremony for a factory manufacturing electronic products, network equipment and multimedia audio products worth US$100 million was held at the WHA Industrial Zone 1 in Nghe An Province on January 21.

The project, which has received investment from the technology group Goertek from Hong Kong (China), was licensed in October 2020.

The factory will cover nearly 40ha and has a capacity of more than 381 million products per year. The factory is expected to begin operation in June 2021 and will provide jobs for approximately 30,000 workers.

Along with the building of the factory, the investor will build the housing for about 20,000 workers and experts at the Urban Area No.4 in Nghi Thuan Commune, Nghi Loc District.

Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee Le Ngoc Hoa expressed his belief that with its reputation and financial capacity, Goertek Technology would complete the project as scheduled and operate effectively.

At the ceremony, the company donated VND102 million for the “Tet for the Poor” programme, presented VND150 million to Nghi Loc District to contribute to the local learning encouragement fund and presented VND50 million to students at Vinh University.

Goertek is a high-tech corporation with many member companies present in countries around the world in the field of research, development and production of smart and precision devices. It is also a partner of the world’s leading technology companies including Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, Samsung, Sony and others. The group built a factory with an investment of US$260 million in Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam, in 2013.
