Quang Tri approves investment in three wind power projects

The central province of Quang Tri has approved investment in three wind power projects worth a total of almostVND5.8 trillion (over US$251 million) in Huong Hoa district.

The first project is Phong Nguyen, which is expected to be built in Tan Thanh and Huong Phung communes in Huong Hoa district with total investment of over VND1.911 trillion (over US$82.8 million).

The Phong Huy project will be constructed in Tan Thanh and Huong Tan communes with total capital of over VND1.913 trillion (over US$82.9 million).

The last is the Lien Lap project worth in total over VND1.973 trillion (over US$85.5 million) in the communes of Tan Lien, Tan Lap and Huong Tan and Khe Sanh district-level town.

Each project will have 12 wind turbines with a design capacity of 48 MW and an operational life of 50 years.

The western mountainous areas of Quang Tri province, especially border communes in Huong Hoa district, have great potential for wind power with an average wind speed of 6m/s – 7m/s.

So far, Quang Tri province has had two wind power projects put into operation.
