Hai Phong Port handles 42 ships during Tet break

The Port of Hai Phong handled a total of 42 ships during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from February 10 to 16, according to its operator.

This number included 27 container ships (18 foreign and 9 domestic), 14 non-containerised cargo ships and one ro-ro ship.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Tan Vu Port welcomed five ships and Chua Ve Port received 2 two, belonging to shipping lines such as VIMC, ONE, MSK, CKL and Wanhai.

On the first working day after the Tet break, Hai Phong Port held a conference to assess its performance during the holiday and launch tasks for the new year as well as stepping up measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In 2021 Hai Phong Port aims to handle a total of 40 million tonnes of cargo, generating revenue of VND2.2 trillion (US$94.9 million) and profit of VND650 billion (US$28 million).

The company will mobilise resources to speed up the construction progress of two more berths at Lach Huyen and continue to restructure its units in line with actual conditions.

The port operator is also seeking to improve its IT infrastructure in order to transform Hai Phong into a smart, modern seaport and enhance its productivity and competitiveness.
