This is the first time that Bac Giang lychee have been distributed in such a methodical and systematic manner on major e-commerce platforms.

The move is expected to help the fruit quickly access the domestic and international markets in accordance with the sales methods of the 4.0 period and the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Online shopping platforms will coordinate with local authorities and traders in Luc Ngan District, Bac Giang Province, to organise online trading of the fruit.

After customers make orders on the platforms, Bac Giang farmers will harvest the fruit and then pack them properly and mark them with traceability stamps for shipment to the customers. The ordered fruit will reach the consumers within 2-3 days.

A representative from Luc Ngan District’s People’s Committee said that lychee is entering its main crop which is delicious and fragrant. The fruit sold through the e-commerce platforms are produced according to VietGAP standards and are certified as OCOP (one commune one product) goods.

Since the pilot sale of Bac Giang lychee on e-commerce platforms in late May, about 300 tonnes of Bac Giang lychee have been ordered with selling prices from VND20,000 – VND40,000 per kg.
