The event was co-organised by the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) and the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (HanoiSME). This is the fourth conference within the framework of the "Promoting business development skills in the digital economy" programme. Speaking at the conference, HPA Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Mai Anh said that, in order to support businesses in negotiating with international partners, the HPA and the TRAV would focus on providing knowledge on negotiation in commercial transactions and contract signing skills, thereby raising the awareness and understanding of businesses and associations about trade remedies in an active and effective manner.At the conference, Le Trieu Dung, TRAV Director of the Trade Remedies Department, shared that the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the economy of Vietnam and other countries around the world. Along with high export growth, the need to use trade remedy tools is also becoming more and more urgent, requiring businesses to learn and master commitments to prepare and exploit the benefits brought by the agreements, as well as protect the legitimate interests of enterprises. In attending the conference, businesses are equipped with in-depth knowledge on organising negotiations and exchanging business transactions with domestic and foreign partners, negotiation skills and negotiation art creating a unique negotiating style, and on organising the signing and awarding of economic contracts in foreign trade. The conference is also an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their awareness and capacity to handle trade remedy cases initiated by foreign countries and territories against Vietnamese exported goods, especially in the context of increasing protectionist trends in the world.
- The Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) is a public non-business unit directly under the Hanoi People's Committee, with the function of proposing and organising the implementation of programmes and plans to promote investment, trade, tourism, agriculture and external services of Hanoi City, and synthesising recommendations and coordinating with relevant agencies to propose that the city’s People's Committee issue policies to attract investment, trade, tourism and agriculture. At the same time, the HPA has the role of supporting, consulting and providing services for domestic and foreign enterprises, organisations and individuals to find investment, production, business and service opportunities in Hanoi and other provinces and cities in Vietnam and abroad. Implementing Programme No. 313/CTr-UBND (dated December 28, 2021) of the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee on Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Programme of Hanoi City in 2022, and Plan No. 261/KH-People's Committee (dated November 19, 2021) of the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee on organising regional linkage activities and supporting the promotion and connection of goods supply and demand between Hanoi and other provinces and cities in the field of industry and trade in 2022, the Hanoi Promotion Agency and the Departments of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have implemented many trade promotion programmes in order to connect trade and trade exchange between Hanoi City and other provinces and cities in the country.
- The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam is an organisation under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, that performs the function of advising and assisting the Minister of Industry and Trade in state management and law enforcement in the field of anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguarding as well as organising and managing public service activities in the field and scope of management of the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam in accordance with law and decentralised and authorised by the Minister.
- Hanoi Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association (HANOISME) is a socio-professional organisation of small and medium-sized enterprises of all socio-economic sectors currently operating legally in Hanoi City. The association aims to gather and unite such enterprises to help each other build the strength of small and medium-sized business community in the city.
