Japan support Vietnam to restore Cau Pagoda

On March 26, the People's Committee of Hoi An City (Quang Nam Province) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held a signing ceremony on supporting the project to restore Cau Pagoda, also commonly referred to as the Japanese Bridge, in Hoi An.

According to the signed agreement, JICA will provide technical support to Hoi An by sending experts to Hoi An during the restoration of Cau Pagoda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Tan said that Cau Pagoda is considered the symbol of Hoi An cultural heritage as well as the symbol of the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Japan. The restoration of the relic requires carefulness and thoroughness, requiring the support of domestic and foreign experts, especially the experience of Japanese experts.

He expressed his belief that, with the support of Japanese experts, the value of the Cau Pagoda relic will be faithfully preserved and ensure the highest sustainability.

Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam shared, 2023 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Therefore, he expressed his hope that Cau Pagoda will be successfully restored to continue to attract more tourists and cement the friendship of the two countries.
