US$700,000 grant to help restore Hue Imperial Citadel

The information was released at the hand-over ceremony on February 6, by the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (HMCC).

On the occasion, the HMCC also launched another project restoring and preserving royal altars of worship in Trieu To Shrine.

The project, sponsored by the US Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, has been in place since January, 2014 with the participation of experienced artisans of Hue traditional lacquer.

It also aims to apply recent scientific and technological advancements to properly preserve the architectural, cultural, artistic, and historical value of the royal altars in Trieu To Shrine.

Since the citadel was recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site in 1993, numerous internationally funded projects have been implemented, bringing the site out of its state of disrepair.
